A few years back, as we were heading into Mother’s Day weekend, I found myself doing what we often do at Back in Line: chatting with patients about their weekend plans. These little conversations often reveal a lot...what brings people joy, what they’re looking forward to, and, frankly, how they (and we) show up for the people they love. (Call it speed dating 101.)
So naturally, I asked a dad-patient what he had planned for his wife on Mother’s Day. His response?
“Well… she’s not my mom.”
Now listen...I know he was teasing (he's sharp, funny, and delightfully and ironically sarcastic), but I still haven’t forgotten his response.
And now here we are, staring down Father’s Day weekend, and I caught myself thinking the same dang thing about my husband: “Well… he’s not my dad.” Touché, my friend. Touché. (also, my husband actually kinda rocks and deserves truly the best VIP weekend ever.
All jokes aside...what I do know is this: I love celebrating the dads in our lives. The ones who raised us, taught us how to drive, grilled burgers like it was their religion, and quietly paid for oil changes and car washes without saying a word. And I especially love celebrating the men raising our babies right alongside us—the diaper changers, the late-night rockers, the homework helpers, the "be brave, but also kind" pep-talkers.
So here it is: our Father’s Day Gift Guide featuring a few of our favorite things for the dads who deserve a little spoiling.
1. BedJET – For the Dad Who Deserves Better Sleep
This is next level bedtime luxury. The BedJET cools or warms each side of the bed independently. Translation? He gets to sleep like a king—even if the toddler ends up sideways between you. Again.
2. Garmin Watch – For the Data-Driven Dad
Not just a fitness tracker...with Garmin, it’s a full health dashboard. Look for models that track sleep quality, HRV, VO2 max, and more. Bonus: it helps them compete with their own stats instead of yours.
3. Tommy John Underwear – You’re Welcome in Advance
Comfy. Breathable. Sleek. It’s one of those “never go back to what you were wearing before” situations. It’s the kind of gift that says, “I care about your comfort and your swagger.”
4. Factor 75 Meal Subscription – Because He’s More Than a Grill Master
Keto, healthy, chef-prepared meals delivered. It’s perfect for the guy who wants to eat well but doesn’t want to figure out if quinoa needs to be rinsed first (it does, btw)... and also, quinoa isn't keto friendly ;)
5. The Wellness Upgrade: Cardiovascular Screen or Hormone Check
Give the gift of longevity. Book a check-in with Jill Reese, PA-C, and help him understand what’s really going on under the hood—testosterone, metabolic markers, cholesterol, inflammation—you name it. It's not just self-care. It’s family-care for your favorite man of the house. Testosterone levels should NOT be underestimated, and oftentimes, boosting his (and your testosterone levels can mean BIG things for you both ).
Whether your favorite dad is the silent type, the joke-cracker, the fixer, or the feeler—he deserves to be celebrated.
Even if... technically... he’s “not your dad.”
Happy Father’s Day to all the superhuman men out there. We see you. We celebrate you. And we appreciate every diaper, grilled steak, school pickup, and quiet act of love in between.
