As the new school year approaches, preparing your child's immune system and establishing a solid routine are key to a healthy, successful start. Here are practical tips for parents to ensure kids are ready to thrive:

Strengthen Immunity

  • Nutrition First: Incorporate immune-boosting foods like fruits (berries, oranges), vegetables (broccoli, spinach), and protein sources and if you can, fermented foods are great for gut health (pickles, olives, sourkrat). More FOODS than products.  A balanced diet supports a strong immune system.

  • Sleep Matters: Ensure kids get 9-11 hours of sleep (ages 5-13) to help their bodies fight off germs. Set consistent bedtimes to promote restful nights.

  • Stay Active: Encourage daily physical activity, like biking or playing OUTSIDE, to enhance overall health and resilience.

Establish a Routine

  • Morning Prep: Create a predictable morning schedule with set times for waking, breakfast, and packing backpacks. Lay out clothes and supplies the night before to reduce stress.

  • Homework & Downtime: Designate a quiet space and specific time for homework to build focus. Balance this with free time for play or relaxation to avoid burnout.

  • Screen Time Limits: Set boundaries on device use.

  • Family Check-Ins: Schedule brief evening moments to discuss the day, fostering emotional connection and helping kids process school experiences.

By prioritizing immunity and routines, you’ll equip your child to tackle the school year with confidence and health. Here’s to a great start!
