Hello! I’m Dr. Missy and I was born and raised in the small town of Manchester, Iowa. I graduated from West Delaware High School and I later attended Wartburg College—graduating with my bachelor’s degree in Biology. In 2018 I earned my Doctorate of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College,“The Fountainhead” of chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. Hiawatha is a big step up from a small town, but I am so excited to be part of the Back In Line team and help serve the corridor area!
Outside of the office, I enjoy all things outdoors! In the warmer months I like to spend my time kayaking, fishing, hunting, playing volleyball, golfing, hiking, riding my road bike, and taking my dog Chief on adventures. Most of the winter months you can find me either ice fishing or on my snowmobile riding throughout Iowa, Wisconsin, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. There is nothing quite like that fresh powder! I’m usually down to clown if it involves being active or “The Great Outdoors”. Don’t let me fool you, I am not always go-go-go! I do have to remind myself to take a step back to honor the down time to rest, reset, and recharge. We also have to remember to enjoy the little things in life. So, here is your gentle reminder :)
I’ve had some pretty awesome experiences during my time as a chiropractor. I’ve treated and adjusted the USA Track and Field athletes at Drake Stadium, the runners competing in Bix 7, and the Hero Hustle Triathlon athletes. I was also the trainer for the WDHS volleyball team for their 2019 season as they made it all the way to state. Know of any cool events? Let’s chat!
I believe my active lifestyle has contributed to my philosophy that there is so much more to chiropractic beyond the “adjustment.” I feel sports rehab and soft tissue/muscle therapies play a crucial role in healing, recovery, and prevention. I’ve loved expanding my knowledge and skills beyond the chiropractic adjustment through events and additional education and training. It has allowed me to add tools to my “toolbox” which helps me treat patients within the office. I focus on quality chiropractic care through full spinal adjustments and provide patients of all ages with a holistic approach to healthcare with wellness, exercise, and nutritional needs. I incorporate Palmer Package adjustments, myofascial release, extremity treatments, floss banding, kinesiology taping, cupping, trigger point dry needling, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization and acupuncture into my treatments. I value providing patients with the most up-to-date and effective research and care. My passion is helping others achieve optimal health and wellness. Your body has an incredible potential to heal itself. The most amazing part is what I get to witness every day!
I value being active within the community and giving back where and when I can. In the past, I have been a member of many organizations including the Iowa Chiropractic Society, the International Chiropractors Association, the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, and was even a BirthFit Professional. All of these organizations have exposed me to different avenues within the chiropractic profession. I’ve gotten to meet many people along the way, some of whom I get to call lifelong friends and colleagues. These connections are why I value relationships with others so deeply. I love connecting with people and getting to know what makes them who they are. As human beings we are physically and mentally wired for human connection. Knowing your time with me in the office is genuine, sincere, and supported is of utmost importance.
