Muscle Therapies & Soft Tissue Services

Along with traditional chiropractic care, our doctors incorporate a variety of soft tissue care techniques. This allows for not only management of the spine, but also of the surrounding soft tissues. This approach ensures optimal function and more comprehensive care.

Over-used muscles change in three important ways:

  • Acute conditions (pulls, tears, collisions)
  • Accumulation of small tears (repetitive motion)
  • Not getting enough oxygen (prolonged contraction

Each of these factors can cause your body to produce tough, dense scar tissue in the affected area. This scar tissue binds up and ties down tissues that need to move freely. As scar tissue builds up, muscles become shorter and weaker, tension on tendons can cause tendonitis, and nerves can become trapped. This can cause inflammation, reduced range of motion, loss of strength, and pain. If a nerve is trapped you may feel a deep ache, weakness or numbness and tingling.
